Now, there are 4 Coupe de France live televised matches and 4 TV channels will broadcast each and every one of them. The next match you will be able to enjoy is Marseille - Rennes and it will be played next Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at 9:10 PM televised by Fubo Sports, FOX Deportes, FOX Soccer Plus.

The Coupe de France is the most important single elimination tournament in the country . It began to be played in 1917 and is open to any professional or amateur team, including those located in overseas territories far from the European continent. The competition forces the big clubs to play in the fields of the modest ones if there is a difference of two or more categories between them.

The number of participants varies in each edition according to the registered teams. The qualifying rounds are played as a single match. In the event that a match ends in a draw, it is decided with a penalty shoot-out. Until 1967, a playoff match was held. The rule was changed following a duel between Olympique de Lyon and Angoulême , which after numerous draws had to be decided by a coin toss.

The clubs play up to 14 rounds, although the number depends on the region to which they belong to reduce travel costs. From the seventh round, when the professional teams enter, the competitors from the different zones begin to be paired with those from others by lottery. Overseas territories establish their own separate tournaments and generally the champion of the territory is the one who participates in the Coupe de France . The final winner qualifies for the Europa League , even if this is an overseas club, and the Trophée des Champions .

The Coupe de France has been broadcast on television since 1955. Fans have been able to follow it on free-to-air television through ORTF, France Télevisions and TF1 . The competition landed on pay television platforms in 1984. From that year until 2000 it was seen onCanal +. Since 1996 it can also be followed via Eurosport .

The 1991-92 edition was never completed due to the so-called Drama of Furiani. Bastia and Olympique de Marseille were facing each other in the semi-finals and the hosts wanted to take advantage of their home, so they expanded the stadium's capacity by 50% with an extra stands. Before the game, the structure collapsed, leaving 18 dead and more than 2,000 injured. The meeting never took place.

Contrary to what happened with the Ligue 1 , the French Cup 2019-20 did manage to be completed. At the time that the COVID-19 pandemic broke out, it only remained to play the final. It could not be played in April, but it was in July. PSG beat Saint-Étienne 1-0 thanks to a goal from Neymar. The meeting was held with more than 2,000 spectators in the stands.
